An exciting, suspenseful story, though I found parts of it confusing. The story builds to a crescendo, as I am sure Laura would say, and I found myself emotionally involved throughout. The only reason I can't give this book 5 stars is because it was not very well proofed or edited. There are lots of mistakes and typos throughout and i find that distracting. Still, I look forward to the final book and the conclusion so I can have my life back and stop worrying about these people! :)Product details

Westering Home The Blue Bells Trilogy Book 4 edition by Laura Vosika Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This has had me riveted to the point I was glad to finish reading this book so I could get some sleep. Loved all the characters good and bad, mind you Amy is probably my least favourite not sure what the draw card is, but I still like her. I hope Laura doesn't take too long to publish the next and last book in this series I am really looking forward to reading it, she has a real gift.
This story has me excited and I can't wait for the final book to finish the story. The books keep you on the edge of your seat the whole way through. Laura Vosika is a master story teller.
Great read, lovely story. My only complaint and why only 4 Stars is I have no patience for the I love this guy, no I love that guy back and forth. Just a little irritating. Like in the Twilight series. But that's just me. I cannot wait for the next book, she's a great writer and spins a enjoyable tale.
Love how the theme of Scottish Highlanders and time travel with romance......fitting into the scene of the Scotts fighting for independence during 14th century.......using historical facts and sites.........creating a great story with superb characters......Thank you Laura Vosika.........
There was too much repetition to get anywhere this book took us. Granted there is much intrigue to keep us readers involved. I think the author has used verbosity in order to turn this "trilogy" into a five book deal. I love the story and will read the final book for the conclusion, but I feel the author could have kept some of the repetition out of the books and managed to tell the story to the original 3 books that I started reading seven years ago. Laura and Diana G.really need to let us finish stories without making us wait years and years to get to a conclusion.
I was kind of torn between a 3 and a 4 for this book, so I am comprising at a 3 (the last parts are a 5, exciting, and I did really like them, but at least the first half being repetitive plus tons of mistakes, confusion and bloodiness would equate to more like 2 stars).
Pros
Conclusion and clarification on what the monk knows is satisfying at the end
Learning about Scottish history
A bargain considering the book is 740 pages
Cons
Repeated story lines make at least the first half drag - more battles and missing home, more indecision on Amy's part (which is really annoying), etc.
I couldn't remember a lot of the complicated details from the prior books, like facets of the prophecies and other things - which left me confused (readers could have used little reminders here and there of the important things)
Quite a bit of mistakes tons of repeated/missing words, grammar or spelling; several times the chapter titles had the wrong year on them; once or twice the chapter title said it was Glenmiril, present, but it starts with Niall, so you think he is coming to the future, which puts you on pins and needles til the end of the chapter when you realize it was just a mistake (which can only lead to disappointment)
A lot of gruesome scenes that were not in the style of writing for the first three books - lots of blood, chopping off and rolling of heads, putting heads on stakes, etc. (I really could go on here....)
Switch in male characters' thinking - both of their excessive pining for the other's life is overdone Niall over modern day when he didn't seem to like it all that much when he was there (though I do get his desire for the lack of danger to his family) and his loss of faith when he was so religious before, and Shawn wanting to go back in time to....what, more death and battles? (again, I get he misses his real friends and his "brother" Niall), but these seem a bit unrealistic, even when you can get caught up in the premise of these books
I love this series! I happened on to it after reading the Outlander Series and even though the styles of the two authors are very different, I loved this one just as much. The story is spell-binding and you will want to go back and start from the beginning (Blue Bells of Scotland). Every time a new installment comes out, I read them all to remind myself what is going on. Its time-travel and that is always fascinating but the premise of having the side-by-side stories of the two main characters in different centuries after they have switched places is different and exciting. The characters for sure grow on you and even though at least one of them, has a lot of growing up to do, you can't help but like him too. The character development is well-done. There is suspense and lots of little "aha" moments as the author brings you along to the exciting conclusion.. There are a few typos or mistakes in word usage but that does not take away from the story. Give them a try. You won't be able to put them down! You will be glad you did!
